Leisure activities, culture and heritage – the Soissonnais welcomes you
The Soissonnais region enjoys a combination of the following advantages: its proximity to Paris, easy links with two regions (Picardy and Champagne-Ardenne), a sociable life within the heart of a medium-sized town and the charms of the countryside.
The Soissonnais hosts many annual festivals: music, theatre, circus, including Pic’Arts, Voies Off and 1001 Facettes, to name but a few.
It has a prestigious historical heritage, the jewels in its crown being the gothic-style Saint-Jean-des-Vignes Cathedral and Abbey.
In addition to its many traditional sports clubs, the Soissonnais also offers a range of watersports, thanks to its central feature – the river.
A sparsely populated town with many landscaped areas and squares.
Planned :
- a large multi-activity centre accommodating 4000-5000 spectators
- a music and dance academy in the heart of the Gouraud Park (scheduled to open in 2008)
Very close-by :
- • a new Center Parcs development – the Pierre et Vacances Group has chosen the magnificent Ailette lake, with a wooded area of 80 hectares and a 140-hectare stretch of water. Next to the cottages, the leisure centre, when finished (in 2007) will offer: not only a 1900m swimming pool, beaches, a solarium, watersports (including a wave-pool, river and waterfall) but also luxury goods boutiques and restaurants, etc.
- an 18-hole golf course (Ailette Park), next to the Aisne Center Parcs development.
